The Abuse Agent handles a variety of issues relating to webhosting customers who have their email, web space, or servers compromised, or dealing with issues relating to acceptable use policies within our service terms and conditions such as spamming, denial of service attacks, distributing warez, or exceeding system resource allocations


  • Review system generated cases indicating excessive system resource usage, reports of email spamming, denial of service attacks (inbound and outbound), phishing complaints
  • Assist customers forensically whose accounts have been compromised to identify and remove malicious code, patch vulnerabilities, or change security settings
  • Review webspace content of customers which may violate service terms and conditions, in coordination with Legal Department
  • Review new orders and existing accounts for potential fraud by working cases flagged by various fraud prevention systems, and reviewing accounts for false, erroneous, or outdated contact details, and
  • Take inbound calls from customers asked to authenticate via phone call
  • Review inbound documents sent via email or fax requested from customers asked to more thoroughly authenticate
  • Deal with fraudulent complaints from victims, banks, law enforcement agencies and governmental regulatory bodies, via both emails and inbound calls
  • Other functions as determined by management


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent plus one year relevant experience; or Associates Degree in Computer Networking; or similar combination of education and experience in the field
  • High degree of proficiency with Linux, specifically log forensics, file and directory permissions, BASH and SHELL commands

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Windows/Office applications
  • Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues both verbally and via email in an effective manner
  • Familiarity with webhosting
  • Familiarity with server administration
